Maryland man charged in school threat; made reference to Virginia Tech

Posted by Jeff Quinton on April 18, 2007

The AP reports that a man in Montgomery County, Maryland was the latest person to run afoul of the law for invoking Monday’s shooting at Virginia Tech to disrupt a school.  Larry Moore of Gaithersburg was charged with disrupting school and making threatening phone calls today. Moore allegedly called Gaithersburg Elementary School today and said that his child was sick and should be kept indoors during recess.

When school officials told Moore he needed a doctor’s note for that, Moore allegedly said that what happened at Virginia Tech could happen at the elementary school. Moore was arrested at his home and the exterior doors to the school were locked.
