Muslim holidays not on proposed school calendar

Posted by Jeff Quinton on May 9, 2007

WBAL Radio reports that the proposed school calendar for 2008-2009 for Baltimore County Public Schools does not include days off for the two biggest Muslim holidays. This issue has come up in the past after complaints that no Muslim holidays are observed while Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur are days off. The local chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination committee is leading the charge on this issue. Comments will be heard at the May 22 board meeting with a vote coming the next month.

I think we should have a special program on Islam every Sept 11th for the students. It should be a study of Islamic terrorism against America starting with the Barbary pirates, murder of our marines in Lebanon by Hezbollah, murder of our soldiers in Somalia, Sept 11th and todays terrorism in Iraq.
