Bartlett announces re-election bid

Congressman Roscoe Bartlett of the 6th District has announced that he’s running for a 9th term next year. Bartlett was first elected in 1992. He holds a PhD. in physiology from the University of Maryland. Bartlett, who is 80 years old and lives in Frederick County, has worked as a scientist and a farmer.

Bartlett has one announced opponent in the February 12 Republican Primary. Former Cumberland mayor Frank Nethken announced his candidacy last week. The 6th District includes all of Allegany, Garrett, Washington, Carroll and Frederick counties. Parts of Baltimore, Harford and Montgomery counties are also in the district.
