FAA/Bank computer glitches and power outages affect area

Posted by Jeff Quinton on June 8, 2007

A power outage affecting SW Baltimore and Catonsville was reported at 11 this morning. 12 city schools were closed  as a result (see list here.) As many as 14,000 people were without power. BGE says electricity should be restored by the end of the day. BGE’s clickable outage map currently shows a large number of customer without power.

All 650 branches of M&T Bank were affected by a glitch late last night that caused accounts to not be updated. States affected include NY, PA, MD, WV, VA and DC.

Currently, east coast airports, including BWI, are experiencing departure delays (via Drudge) after computer problems on the automated departure planning system that is requiring things to be done manually by controllers. The FAA delay map shows the impact across the country.
