Inside Look at an Annapolis lighthouse
Posted by Jeff Quinton on July 7, 2007
Today’s Baltimore Sun talks about special tours today that are allowing people to actually go inside the Thomas Point Shoals lighthouse after going there by a special charter boat. In a recent review of visiting Annapolis, I posted pictures of this lighthouse taken on a weekly boat tour that goes out to the light and circles it a few times before returning.
The article discusses the history of the light and other lighthouses in the area as well as the restoration of the light and the transfer of control to state and local officials.
Some of the details discussed in the article include the corral deck underneath where supplies and livestock (including chickens) were kept. Other details include the fact that the fog bell shaft was replaced by a closet and the outhouse that hangs over the side is still there as a modern bathroom.
