Fire closes I-895 south of Harbor Tunnel
Posted by Jeff Quinton on August 15, 2007A fire in the Curtis Bay area has resulted in smoke that closed a 0.5 mile stretch of I-895 in both directions south of the Harbor Tunnel. The fire, in the 3100 block of Weedon St., is in the vicinity of a gasoline tank holding between 10,000-15,000 gallons of gas. Northbound traffic is being detoured on Hanover St. and then to I-95. Southbound traffic is being detoured onto I-95 north of the tunnel.
UPDATE: WBAL TV reports the fire is in the 1600 block of Carbon Avenue and that the fire was scrap metal burning and that firefighters have been able to contain the fire.
