Man gives woman bovine hormone in attempt to cause miscarriage

WBAL.com reports that 25-year old William Stanley Sutton III of Kent County has been charged with spiking the soft drink of 21-year old Lauren Ashley Tucker with ProstaMate (dinoprost tromethamine), a bovine hormone, in an attempt to induce a miscarriage. Tucker is 15 weeks pregnant with Sutton’s child and Sutton reportedly wanted her to have an abortion.

Tucker threw up after drinking the soft drink and later told police it burned her throat and was “nasty.” When she went to the hospital, hospital officials notified police of a possible poisoning.  After she threw up, Sutton tried to get her to drink more of the spiked soft drink by telling her the soft drink would help an upset stomach.

Police say Sutton admitted to adding 15 cc of ProstaMate to Sutton’s drink but that he didn’t want to harm her - he just wanted to cause a miscarriage. Police are also looking into whether he also added ProstaMate to a glass of water Tucker drank on August 6.

Sutton’s attempt at causing a miscarriage was unsuccesful. Tucker is still being treated and Sutton is out on $50,000 bond and can have no contact with Tucker.
