60 days in jail for a messy yard

The Annapolis Capital (via WBAL.com) brings us the story of an Anne Arundel County man who was given 60 days in jail for not cleaning up his yard.  A judge sentenced George B. “Brad” Hartsuff, III of Cape St. Claire to 60 days in jail for not cleaning his messy yard in a conflict with the county that had been ongoing for 6 or 7 years.

On July 5, A judge ordered Hartsuff to clean his house in 30 days or face the jail time. One of the reports said that when county inspectors returned to the house in August that it might have been messier. There were reports throughout the years of trash and debris including crab pots, a boat and even a vending machine in Hartstuff’s yard.

Hartstuff could face additional jail time if the yard isn’t cleaned up when he is released.

I never understand why some people take ridiculously dumb stances, such as a dirty yard or keeping 300 cats in their house.

    Paul,
The first commenter was giving examples it appears to me. I don’t think he was saying Hartsuff had 300 cats, but rather using messy yards and 300 cats as examples of behavior.
