McDonough takes on illegal immigration
In some news I missed earlier this week, Baltimore Crime points to a WMAR story about proposals by Delegate Pat McDonough that deal with illegal immigration.
McDonough is pushing for some specific measures in the 2008 legislative session in Annapolis. They include: banning contractors from working for the state if they hire illegals, regulations for day labor centers and banning them from providing services to illegals, stopping illegal immigrants from obtaining Maryland drivers’ licenses, and lobbying the Senate to vote down a proposal to give illegal aliens discounts on tuition at state colleges and universities.
McDonough’s comments included: “We are in probably the worst state in the nation when it comes to protecting constitutional rights and fighting against the invasion of illegal aliens.”
