Snow Delays and Traffic

Posted by Jeff Quinton on December 5, 2007

There’s a snow advisory until 8 p.m. tonight with up to 2 inches of snow in the Baltimore area (and more in the south.) Garrett and Allegany County schools are closed today.

Traffic in Montgomery and Prince George’s Counties was reported to be bad this morning and there were a few wrecks reported in Baltimore. Snow was reported on the roadways in Westminster as well.

Traffic reports on WBAL AM this morning initially indicated that 295 was backed up due to a wreck and then I-95 southbound was backed up because of the weather from the DC Beltway (I-495) to 175 in Howard County. The later report during my commute indicated that it had backed up further to 100 near Columbia. As I came in to UMBC this morning just before 9, the traffic was at a dead stop at the BWI exit (195 and 166) on I-95. I presume this was the situation all the way down to the DC Beltway.
