Another racist bus attack

WBAL TV reported on their 11 p.m. newscast last night about an attack on an MTA bus in Baltimore Monday night that appears to be racially motivated. 2 white men claim they were assaulted on the 64 bus by youths yelling racial slur and that no one on the bus, including the driver, would help them. The slideshow and the video at the story link at the top of this post have pictures of the victims after the attack.

The victims also claim the driver refused to call 911 for assistance when this was going on. The TV report indicated that the men were dropped off by Harbor Hospital, which is along the route. MTA officials say they are investigating.

This attack is in the aftermath of a previous attack of a white woman by 9 teenagers on a bus that was ruled by officials to not be a hate crime. The victim denied claims that she provoked her attackers in that case. Michelle Malkin blogged previously about the victim being under police protection. Malkin also has a picture of the victim in that case.

[...] Jeff Quinton alerted me this morning to another reported beating on a Baltimore bus involving an alleged racially motivated attack on white passengers by a group of young black riders. I waited to see if more evidence would develop today before posting. Copycat incidents are unfortunately a concern. Well, WBAL reported on the incident last night–and follows up with surveillance video today showing the alleged attackers. It took city officials three days to release photos of the suspect: “We were saying the whole time to the driver, ‘You need to help us, call the police,’” [Patrick] Green told 11 News reporter Kerry Cavanaugh. “He said, ‘I can’t. I’ll get in trouble.’” [...]

This is getting really serious. A couple of months ago I was walking up Charles Street and saw a bus pulled over with crime tape strung up around it. A policeman came off the bus holding a bloody shirt. “What happened?” I asked. “Kid pulled a knife on another one” he replied. Another officer then told me that it was none of my business and I should leave. The way he was looking at me I decided to leave.

That’s the way it is here in Charm City.

My wife doesn’t believe me that race relations were better in this area in the early 80s than they are now. I don’t understand the black on white hatred at all.
