Terps’ Henderson turning pro
Posted by Jeff Quinton on January 2, 2008The Baltimore Sun reports that Maryland Terrapins’ linebacker Erin Henderson is forgoing his senior year to enter the NFL draft. Henderson has already finished his bachelor’s degree at College Park. Henderson is the brother of Minnesota Vikings’ starting linebacker E.J. Henderson.
From the Sun:
“After discussing the matter with my family in recent days, we felt like the time was right to take the next step in my playing career,” Henderson said in a statement released by the school. “It was a difficult decision because I enjoyed my days at Maryland and playing in the college environment. I will certainly miss my teammates and coaches, but will always be a Terp.”
From Terps’ head coach Ralph Friedgen’s statement:
“Erin has made a tremendous contribution to our program, both on and off the field,” Friedgen said in a statement. “We wish him the best in the NFL.”
Henderson is expected go lower in the draft than his brother, who was 40th overall. He is a native of Aberdeen.
