Orioles deny Bedard trade deal has been made

Posted by Jeff Quinton on January 28, 2008

A trade deal reported by the Seattle Times that would send Erik Bedard to the Seattle Mariners in exchange for multiple players including CF Adam Jones has been denied by Baltimore Orioles President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail.

Jones reportedly left a winter league in Venenzuela for a physical related to the trade, according to the Times report. Venenzuelan sources quote Jones and winter league officials talking about the trade being a done deal. Other players possibly involved in the trade for Bedard include pitchers George Sherrill and Chris Tillman. Other players are probably involved as well.

Bedard’s agent claims that he has heard nothing from the Orioles about any trade being completed.
