Proposal would require citizenship proof for state driver’s license

A bill proposed by Delegate Ron George of Anne Arundel County would require anyone born since December 1, 1964 to provide proof of U.S. citizenship or proof that they are in the country legally before a driver’s license could be issued.

George’s proposal is because he says the O’Malley administration is not complying with the federal Real ID act in hopes that it will be reversed by a change in presidential administrations. George also says that Maryland is the only state that doesn’t require proof of citizenship for a license.
