Release: Deadline to Request an Absentee Ballot for the 2008 Presidential Primary Election
Annapolis, Md. (January 24, 2008)–The deadline to request by mail or by fax an absentee ballot for the 2008 Presidential Primary Election is Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Any registered voter in Maryland may request an absentee ballot, although a voter will be required, as part of the absentee voting process, to affirm, under penalty of perjury, that he or she will be absent or unable to vote in person on election day.
A voter who wishes to vote by absentee ballot must request an absentee ballot in writing. An application may be printed from the State’s web site or requested by telephone, in writing, or in person at the voter’s local board of elections. To request an absentee ballot application, please visit the State’s web site or call 410-887-5700 or visit the Baltimore County Board of Elections at 106 Bloomsbury Ave. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
A local board of elections must receive an absentee ballot application:
* If mailed, by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008
* If faxed, by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5, 2008After Tuesday, February 5, 2008, all requests for an absentee ballot must be made in person at a local board of elections. After February 5, the late application for absentee ballot will be posted at the State’s web site, but a voter must submit the late application to the insert Baltimore County Board of Elections at 106 Bloomsbury Ave. from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The 2008 Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, and the Presidential General Election will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2008. Additional election-related information and dates are available at the State’s web site.
