African History Reaches Beyond February
Sankofa Dance Theater presents Congo Square … A Dance Drama of African American History

BALTIMORE, MD – On March 22, 2008, Sankofa Dance Theater will present its renowned and much awaited “Congo Square” concert at the Baltimore Museum of Art. “Congo Square” is a New Orleans tale that will be performed as dance drama using the traditional African format of dance, rhythm, song, and folklore to tell a long hidden story that is straight out of the pages of American history.

The “Congo Square” concert is a travelogue journey that begins in an African village. The Company takes the audience with them as they become the village only to be torn away and transported to a new land and an unknown life… This is the most unique and entertaining event of its kind!

All proceeds from the event underwrite the activities of the Sankofa Dance Theater and the Sankofa Center for Cultural Enrichment as they utilize art to bridge communities by creating awareness and intercultural understanding.

Sankofa Dance Theater presents “Congo Square” at The Baltimore Museum of Art on Saturday, March 22, 2008 at 2:00pm & 8:00pm.
