Orioles to be up for sale after this season?

(Click here for the latest update)

Word from the Warehouse in recent days indicates that Peter Angelos may finally put the Baltimore Orioles up for sale after what is expected to be another dismal effort on the field this season. The move will probably be welcomed by most Orioles fans, who have been hoping such a sale might happen for the past few years. The fan choice for new ownership would be Cal Ripken, Jr., who was at Opening Day yesterday at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Ripken may be one of the players in any possible purchase of the team, but don’t be surprised if he isn’t the principal investor with all of his other investments and projects in Aberdeen and other areas.

We are hearing that a group of backers including politicians, investors and other businessmen may be pushing for an arrangement unique for Major League Baseball if the team is indeed sold. That arrangement currently does exist in the National Football League. Some sort of community-based group ownership like the arrangement the Green Bay Packers have is something that many in the area believe could help turn the team’s flagging attendance around and help improve the product on the field as well. We wouldn’t be surprised to hear that Nestor Aparicio of WNST is involved behind the scenes in such a move. There wil likely be all sorts of other potential buyers coming out between now and the end of the long dismal season.

We keep hearing conflicting information about other sub-plots of this story, so please send any information you may have to mail@insidecharmcity.com. We will keep our sources protected.

    O-pening day

The beginning of the baseball season is a time for optimism for all teams. Even the Orioles this year. After all, all teams start off 0 – 0. Hope springs eternal! And then you read that Angelos is getting ready to sell the team at the end of the season…

After Angelos fired Dave Johnson as manager (Mr. Baseball) and John Miller as announcer (the best pipes in sports) for the Orioles, I knew they would never amount to anything as long as Angelos owned them. If this happens, it will be good news for us former fans.

I’M SICK OF APRIL FOOLS GAGS ON O’S SITES. ROBERTS TRADED, ANGELOS IS GONNA SELL THE TEAM. that’s not that funny. thanks for telling me the o’s suck still. i really don’t need that news. think of something a little more creative than angelos is gonna sell the team. JESUS. and i do have a sense of humor, i just like my jokes to go a little deeper than “what you’ve been desperately waiting for the last decade of your life will continue to elude you”. thanks! 10 more years of the o’s stinking, HAHAHAHA!
