Pretrial hearing for MD man accused of stalking actress
Posted by Jeff Quinton on April 25, 2008Actress Uma Thurman’s alleged stalker is claiming crafty cops duped him into talking about harassing the “Kill Bill” star before he could ask for a lawyer.
Former mental patient Jack Jordan testified at a pretrial hearing Thursday that he blabbed to detectives because they led him to believe it would get him off the hook.
“I fulfilled their curiosity about the case. … I didn’t know I was being deposed,” said the 37-year-old Maryland man.
Defense attorney George Vomvolakis argued that Jordan’s statements to cops and his subsequent videotaped confession should be tossed because he was tricked into talking without an attorney present.
Jordan is accused of stalking the actress over a two-year period beginning in 2005. He’s accused of trying to bust into Thurman’s trailer on a movie set and hanging around outside her Greenwich Village home.
The trial begins next week in Manhattan Supreme Court.
