P.E. Teacher Arrested for Sexual Child Abuse
Baltimore County Police Department news release:
School Physical Education Teacher Arrested for Sexual Child Abuse in Precinct 6/Towson
Investigators Seek Other Possible VictimsTimothy Rhodes has been arrested for child sex abuse.Baltimore County, Md. (April 28, 2008) – Baltimore County Police arrested Timothy Allen Rhodes, 42, of the 8300-block of Oakleigh Road, 21234, on April 24, for the sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl. The abuse took place in different rooms of the suspect’s residence.
Police are asking any other victims who have not come forward, or who were abused by Timothy Rhodes, to contact the Baltimore County Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Unit at 410-853-3650. Rhodes is a school physical education teacher at Pleasant Plains Elementary School, 21286.
Detectives say that the victim and her mother contacted police on April 11, after the girl told her mother about the abuse and wanted to change schools. The abuse did not take place at the school, but took place at Rhodes’ residence. Timothy Rhodes’ wife would help the victim’s mother who was going to school, by providing morning and after-school care for the victim.
Timothy Rhodes abused the victim on nights she stayed at his house, and after his wife went to work at night. He would touch personal areas of the victim under her clothing when she went to sleep, and on occasion would engage in oral sex with the victim. This occurred 20 to 30 times in different locations of the house, including Rhodes’ bedroom. The victim told detectives she would fake being asleep because she was afraid of him. The abuse began in early 2005 and lasted until November 2007.
Investigators also found that Rhodes was showing the victim pornographic videos in order to instruct her on sexual acts he desired.
Timothy Rhodes has been charged with sex abuse of a minor, second-degree child abuse, second-degree assault, and third-degree sex offense. He was taken before a commissioner on April 24 and was released after posting bail on a $250,000 bond.

He has not been found guilty in the court of law, therefore he is still innocent, give him his fair trial before you start labeling him as you have. All of this is alleged, and there is no evidence released aside from the 12 year old saying that this occurred. Allow him his day in court before you say he did do something.

Real class act sean, insult a 12 year girl who was abused. I dont believe this story about being caught stealing at his home. What else is he going t say, I am a sick bastard and like touching 12 year old girls. There are two many details to be a made up story. I hope this guy spends the rest of his life in jail, and the inmates get justice for this little girl.

This supposed story of stealing, etc. has been known to family and friends for almost one years time. You have no right to act as if he has conveniently made up this story to cover his tracks. The only thing Mr. Rhodes is guilty of, is trying to help a young child who had previously been living under difficult circumstances. You cannot convict him of a crime on hearsay from an impressionable young child. He will have his day to defend himself!

The alleged victims’s mother and the wife were NOT friends; the Rhodes did not help the alleged victim because of a “daycare situation”. The mother of the alleged victim knows in her heart the true circumstances as to why the alleged victim came to stay with the Rhodes. Did stealing occur? Yes, so what–young people make mistakes and go down that path at times. I love our system; Guilty until proven innocent! How can the news and newspapers word things to manipulate the viewers or readers into believing something that hasn’t even been trialed. No evidence has been found. We as viewers beleive what we hear and read…we judge. Sometimes people deserve it and sometimes they don’t. We want to protect children and we should—always. This family’s world has turned upside down because people judge a book by it’s cover (the information we are presented-even if not true). The media has no right to report or write information that has not been proven!!!! I know this family needs love and support to get through this ordeal. I know the alleged victim needs help provided to her for whatever need she may have. When reading future articles like this, please remember to add the word alleged in front of whatever you are reading. If and when a person is found guilty, then you can blast them all you want. Truth will PREVAIL!!!!!

I knew Tim through the Perry Hall Rec Council and something just didn’t sit right with me about him. He just seemed like he always had something going on behind the curtain. I never really liked him, but I wouldn’t have thought that he would have done something like this. I believe him to be guilty.
Some of you talk about Tim needing love and support to get through this, but what about the 12 year old victim who needs way more love and support than he does. She is looking forward to years and years of therapy and even then she might not be even remotely normal.
So take a look at the other side before some of you start saying what a great person Timmy is! You might be endorsing a sicko!!!

I too know Tim and can not fathom how everyone is so quick to judge a person that you may not know. Last time I checked the law states “innocent until proven guilty” but unfortunately the press has this wonderful way of not having all of the facts and therefore convicting a person long before they go to trail. I agree with Lauri, there isn’t any evidence and let the man have his day in court.

Well everyone it looks like the truth did prevail…he openly admitted in court that he sexually abused this little girl…children don’t normally lie about sexual abuse…maybe Sean should read some materials on sexual child abuse before calling 12 little girls white trash.
