Hopkins workers split on Obama, McCain health plans
“Obama’s plan basically will push people to have coverage and put some penalties in if they don’t have coverage. It’s making what’s going on now a little bit better,” said Hopkins Dr. Mark Donowitz.
“Obama comes right out and talks about public health care prevention, and as a nurse, I think those are the important issues,” said nurse practitioner Sharon Dudley.
Most of the health care professionals 11 News spoke with supported Obama’s plan, but some though McCain’s plan was the best way to go.
“The idea of giving someone $5,000 to do what they see best for their health is a lot better than the government telling them what they need to do,” said Hopkins worker Paul Sikorski.
Sikorski said he isn’t sure the federal government would do a good job of mandating and regulating health care as would happen under Obama’s plan.
“Obama’s plan — in theory it’s a good idea, but I don’t know how efficiently it will work with the federal government being involved,” he said.
