The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Department says a minivan hit two bicyclists and an Amish buggy in Leonardtown. Three people were injured.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Allen says the accident occurred just before dawn Sunday.

Two 17-year-old cyclists and the driver of the minivan were taken to a St. Mary’s Hospital; two were released; one was transferred to the Washington Hospital Center.

The spokeswoman says the accident occurred when four Amish buggies and the two cyclists were stopped on Hollywood Road at Point Lookout Road (Route 5) when the minivan, driven by 19-year-old Benjamin Allen of Prince Frederick, struck them from behind.

The buggy moved forward and crashed into a second buggy.
