105.7 flips to sports
Various sources have reported this since yesterday, including DCRTV who broke the story initially:
CBS Radio flipped low-rated Baltimore talker WHFS, 105.7 FM, to sports talk on Monday, 11/3. The new calls are WJZ-FM/AM, linking it and former WJFK-AM (1300) to CBS TVer Channel 13/WJZ. With the overall sports format moving over from CBS sister WJFK-AM, ESPN 1300. Kirk and Mark got yanked from mornings, replaced by former afternooner Ed Norris and his producer, Maynard Edwards (right). Also out – middayer Troy Johnson. We’re also told that CBS has registered several new web addresses, including sportsradio1057.com, sportsradio1057thefan.com, and 1057thefan.com. DCRTV has reported rumblings that CBS’s Baltimore suits have been debating whether to yank K&M, who moved to 105.7 in 2007. They never achieved the ratings they’d had during their long run at Hearst’s 98 Rock. More on the new 105.7 sked: Fox45 sports anchor Bruce Cunningham is leaving sports talker WNST (1570 AM), where he did a Saturday show, to join “The Fan” 105.7 for the 1 PM to 3 PM slot. Former Channel 2/WMAR sports anchor Scott Garceau joins Anita Marks, who did afternoons on 1300, to pair from 3 PM to 7 PM. Mark Viviano hosts late mornings. The Baltimore Orioles and University Of Maryland’s Terrapins will continue to air on 105.7. Also, ESPN 1300 will pick-up the ESPN national radio feed, with no local content.
