Terps win soccer title

Graham Zusi’s second-half goal gave second-seeded Maryland a 1-0 victory over 13th-seeded North Carolina in the NCAA College Cup championship game on Sunday.

Maryland beat North Carolina for the third time in as many meetings this season in the first all-Atlantic Coast Conference final in the 50-year history of the NCAA men’s soccer tournament.

The Terrapins (23-3-0) won their third national title, finishing the season with a 16-game winning streak and denying North Carolina a sweep of the men’s and women’s titles. The Tar Heel women beat Notre Dame for the championship last Sunday.

Maryland took the championship in 2005 and shared another national crown in 1968 when it tied Michigan State in the final.
