Possible layoffs loom over White Marsh transmission plant
Workers at GM Powertrain’s Baltimore Transmission Plant near White Marsh and Nottingham began a two-week paid holiday break Saturday facing an uncertain future.
Plant spokesman John Raut says work stoppages at GM auto plants will likely mean local layoffs, although no announcements have been made yet.
GM plans to close 20 of its plants across the country in January, including three that receive parts from the White Marsh facility.
The Baltimore County transmission plant has 239 hourly workers and 61 salaried employees.
