Plumbers’ Union moves HQ to Annapolis

AP

An international plumbers union will move its headquarters from Washington, D.C., to Annapolis.

The United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices plans to move 85 employees next month to a new office building.

The union represents the plumbing and pipefitting industry across North America.

Union General Secretary-Treasurer Patrick Perno says it chose Annapolis largely because most of its employees live in the area. He says he likes the character of Annapolis and says it’s easy to get around town.

The union bought its new home in July for nearly $30 million.

It sold its building in the District of Columbia to the Washington Convention Center Authority, which plans to build a hotel there.
