For Dan N, I shared in line # 81. Thank you for sharing the website that was selling McCain’s ‘flag’. I had not seen that before but I still stand by what I wrote. Our nation’s flag does not represent 1 man, no person’s image should be on our flag, I don’t care what political party they represent. McCain or Obama, I still stand by what I wrote. My father was crippled serving this nation; not a political party or one particular person.

This doesn’t really have as much to do with a “code” as it does to what is considered “Flag protocol” . There has always been a certain standard set for our flag and how it should and should not be used. Remember the uproar over Mr. Obama not wearing a flag pin? Though I am sure he didn’t do it for this reason, he was actually more correct in NOT doing it than those who DID. Why? The flag is never to be used as a part of clothing or in jewelry. No code. Just just respect given to the symbol of our nation.
Do I like the flag shown in the photo? No. I think it is disrespectful. Would I cause a revolt over it? No. Come on folks. Use a little common sense here.

I agree with Sue – the bigotry and hatred displayed on this site only shows how ignorant some Americans truly are. If it wasn’t for white voters Obama never would have been elected. Just because someone is unfamiliar with proper flag etiquette doesn’t make them unpatriotic, uneducated perhaps, but nothing more.I’m a 50+ year old white man and I’m proud of the social advances this country has made. Since most slaves came here against their will before many of your families did, I say if you don’t like what’s going on in this county go back to Ireland, England, Italy, Germany or whatever country your families came from and slither back under a rock where your spawn came from.
