Docs would have to disclose payments from pharma companies
A Maryland legislator wants patients to be able to see if their doctors are on pharmaceutical manufacturer payrolls.
Baltimore County Sen. Delores Kelley wants to require pharmaceutical manufacturers to tell the Maryland Health Care Commission about all payments made to licensed Maryland physicians for speeches, consulting or conducting research. Kelley’s proposal stipulates that at least once a year the commission would be required to publish the disclosed information on its Web site. A state legislative panel will hear testimony on Kelley’s bill Tuesday morning.
