Montgomery County police say a 52-year-old Rockville woman was shot to death outside her church and her husband has been taken into custody.

Off-duty officers at the church heard shots fired around 11:30 a.m. Sunday while services were in progress at the People’s Community Baptist Church in Silver Spring.

Police say Patricia Ann Simmons Kelly fatally shot in the parking lot near the front entrance and officers quickly found a man with a handgun. Kelly’s 52-year-old husband, Kevin, was taken into custody, but police say no charges had been filed Sunday night.
