Police Release Findings in Parente Family Murder/Suicide

Baltimore County, Md. (April 22, 2009) – Baltimore County Police responded to the Sheraton in Towson at approximately 3 p.m. on Monday, April 20, after hotel staff discovered four bodies in a hotel room on the 10th floor. The occupants of the room had failed to check out of the room. They are identified as William Parente, 59, Betty Parente, 58, Stephanie Parente, 19, and Catherine Parente, 11, of the unit-block of First Street, Garden City, NY 11530.

The investigation revealed that William Parente checked in with his wife and 11-year-old daughter on Wednesday, April 15, at the Towson Sheraton. Detectives have determined that Betty, Stephanie and Catherine were killed sometime Sunday morning and late afternoon. Autopsies have revealed that William killed his family by means of blunt force trauma and asphyxiation, and then took his own life by cutting himself.

The Baltimore County Police Department has learned of allegations that William Parente may be involved in questionable financial dealings. Any information the Baltimore County Police Department receives concerning Mr. Parente will be given to the proper jurisdiction, and the Department will cooperate fully with any investigation that requires our assistance.
