A road rage claim in Harford County put a Baltimore City police officer in the spotlight again.

Robert Cirello has been a Baltimore officer since 2003. Now he’s out on bail after being charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

Two men say Cirello cut them off along 924 in Abingdon. They honked at him. When their car approached Cirello’s, the officer admits he threw his tobacco spit on themen through the open car windows. They say he also pointed his 40-caliber Glock weapon at them.

The other driver called in a description of the car the off-duty cop was driving in. State police arrested the city officer a few miles away from the incident.

Another Baltimore City officer was arrested on a completely separate incident on Friday.  Joseph Bannerman, 31, is charged with punching and choking his girlfriend.  He is suspended with pay.
