Illegal Alien Golden Age
McDonough press release
ILLEGAL ALIEN GOLDEN AGE
By Delegate Pat McDonough
As an illegal alien, already residing in the United States, or someone planning to come here unauthorized, your future prospects have increased dramatically. Although George Bush dropped the ball on the issue of illegals and damaged our nation in many ways with the arrival of almost 20 million now living in America, his defective leadership on this issue pales in comparison to what President Obama has planned. When the voters sent Mr. Obama to the White House, they had little knowledge of his amnesty philosophy related to illegal immigration. Mr. Obama, his opponent John McCain, and the national news media conspired to remove the issue of illegal immigration from the spotlight during the 2008 Presidential election. This troubling issue, which so many Americans continue to be concerned about, mysteriously disappeared from the national debates.
Now that Mr. Obama is President, his policies and plans have become clear. One of his first appointments as President was the former top lobbyist for LA RAZA. The organization LA RAZA, which in Spanish means “the race”, is a powerful international group advocating for open borders and lawful rights for illegal aliens. Mr. Obama appointed Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano as the Secretary of Homeland Security which controls the border patrol and other important immigration programs. Secretary Napolitano has rapidly put in place a policy that drastically reduced the raids on domestic employers that hire illegals. Many other administrative tactics are now being used by the federal government to weaken our efforts to stem the tide of illegal immigration. All of this is occurring at a time of economic stress and a 10% unemployment rate.
The real impending danger is President Obama’s commitment to pass a comprehensive amnesty act. This proposal is supported vigorously by Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Leader Harry Reid. The members of Congress who share the concern of the American people and oppose amnesty are greatly outnumbered by the super majority of liberal politicians who were elected with Mr. Obama in 2008. It appears “the lawmakers who support lawbreakers” may succeed in passing a federal amnesty law. Talk radio and a grassroots citizen’s movement defeated the last amnesty proposal, but the numbers in Congress and the times have changed.
The new amnesty law is very scary. It contains a number of mandates that deplete our concept of citizenship and will be extremely costly to the taxpayers. One mandate will provide taxpayers’ subsidized full tuition for higher education for illegals. Another idea will make it easier for illegals to receive benefits including national standards for drivers’ licenses and potential access to receiving Social Security payments. Finally, the most dangerous potential change to our system is the opportunity for illegals to have access to the newly proposed big government healthcare program. So far, the national media and President Obama have managed to quietly move this entire plot forward without providing transparency or disclosure to the general public. “Secrecy” appears to be their game plan.
In Maryland, Governor O’Malley and the leaders of the General Assembly are virtual clones of Mr. Obama on this issue. In the last session of the General Assembly, they forced through at the last minute and put into law an amnesty bill providing drivers’ licenses for illegals in our state. In the near future, perhaps as soon as June 20th, I plan to hold a news conference announcing a lawsuit against the Maryland drivers’ license amnesty law. Also, on Saturday, June 20th, I will be hosting a V.I.P. reception featuring former Presidential candidate, Tom Tancredo as the keynote speaker. Mr. Tancredo is recognized as a national leader on immigration reform and the fight against amnesty legislation.
For more information about the lawsuit and the V.I.P. reception, contact Delegate McDonough at 410-238-0025 or send an e-mail to Patmcdee@comcast.net.
