Cumberland might remove dam from Potomac

WMAR

Cumberland is exploring the possibility of removing the Potomac River Industrial Dam.

The city is taking bids on a study of whether the dam could be removed and what impact that might have on water quality, fish populations and potential recreational river patrons.

Bids are due next week and the study could take between 12 and 18 months to complete.

The dam was built in 1959.
