Inappropriate political use of Baltimore County website?
Last night, we reported that Baltimore County Executive Jim Smith was not running for State Comptroller next year. In so doing we noted that Smith’s campaign website, VoteJimSmith.com didn’t have his statement posted, but that WBAL.com did have it. Later last night we checked again and the news release page on the campaign site still says “There are no press releases at this time.”
However, as of last night around 11 pm, the Baltimore County Government website (paid for by the taxpayers of the county) has the full statement as a release.
Presumably, Smith is not running for any higher office next year and he’s prevented from running for re-election to his current post by term limits. However, wouldn’t his campaign website, rather than one funded by the taxpayers of the county, be a more appropriate place to post a press release about his political future?
We made screen captures of the County’s press release page and the page with the statement just in case they disappear after this is posted. They are found below. Click on the thumbnails for a larger view.

Hahahahaha… Awesome…
This isn’t the first time something like this has happened on the BaCo website. Let me see if I can find my old screen shots. I’ll post them when I do.
