Man Murdered Inside Liquor Store in Precinct 8/Parkville is Identified
Victim Was Owner of the Store

Baltimore County, Md. (July 17, 2009) – Baltimore County Police have identified the man who was shot and killed in an apparent attempted robbery inside the Putty Hill Liquors in the 7900-block of Belair Road, 21236. He is identified as Joon Am Kang, 57, the owner of the store.

Police received a call at approximately 9:05 p.m. yesterday for a gunshot wound victim at the store. When they arrived they found Kang dead at the scene. This morning an autopsy will be completed.

Detectives found that two suspects entered the store pointing a handgun at Mr. Kang in an apparent robbery. During the robbery, one of the suspects shot him in the upper body. The suspects then ran out of the store in an unknown direction. An extensive search did not locate either suspect. Investigators do not know the identity of the suspects, and can only describe them as two black males, one wearing a dark T-shirt and shorts, and the other wearing a light-colored T-shirt and shorts at the time of the crime.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s identification is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7-LOCKUP (1-866-756-2587).
