NAACP seeks to ensure possible GOP governor couldn’t make appointment to fill mayoral vacancy
The Maryland NAACP wants lawmakers to strip the governor of the authority to fill the office of mayor…should it become vacant as a result of Mayor Dixon’s legal troubles.
The group’s leaders are expressing fears that a possible future Republican governor might appoint a white or Republican leader in that office should there be a vacancy.
Baltimore chapter president Doc Cheatham made the resolution at the civil rights group’s weekend meeting according to The Sun.

Not only is Doc Cheatham a racist, he is dumb. The governor doesn’t have that authority. He should read the City Charter. In the case of a vacancy, the position is filled by the City Council President.
The man is an ass. He should be relieved of his position as head of the NAACP.
