New stadium for Crystal Palace FC USA downtown?

Baltimore Business Journal

Baltimore is home to zero soccer stadiums now. But Crystal Palace FC USA is close to finalizing a deal with a North Carolina development team to build a 7,000-seat soccer stadium by as early as 2012 in the Carroll Camden Industrial Area near M&T Bank Stadium.

The impending deal coincides with Dixon asking the state to explore whether a new major-league soccer stadium should become a priority.

That news isn’t dampening Crystal Palace’s resolve to finally have its own home in Baltimore. It’s already pegged a 15-acre site at Wicomico and Ostend streets for the stadium. The land is owned by Blue Devil Ventures, a group spearheaded by former Duke University basketball teammates Brian Davis and Christian Laettner

Crystal Palace FC USA currently plays at UMBC Stadium in Catonsville. The club previously played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.
