Meanwhile, Organizing for America, a political group that is run by the Democratic National Committee is sending emails to supporters of President Obama encouraging them to visit Cardin’s office in Baltimore this week to talk about health care reform.
An email obtained by WBAL News invites people, “to show our support for insurance reform. You can have a quick conversation with the local staff, tell your personal story, or even just drop off a customized flyer and say that reform matters to you.”
The email goes on to say that, ” special interest attack groups are stirring up partisan mobs with lies about health reform, and it’s getting ugly. Across the country, members of Congress who support reform are being shouted down, physically assaulted, hung in effigy, and receiving death threats. We can’t let extremists hijack this debate, or confuse Congress about where the people stand.”
The email is signed by Mitch Stewart, director of Organizing for America. The group has a logo that is similar to last year’s Obama camapign.

All of the health care reform critics at the town hall were residents of the 4th Congressional District and said they had come on their own volition as concerned citizens.
None of them said they had been directed to the town hall by interest groups opposed to health care reform – an allegation levied by top Democrats throughout the week.
However, one Democrat from a neighboring Congressional district, Eunita Winkey, said she had decided to attend the forum after receiving an e-mail from Jason Waskey, the Maryland state director for Barack Obama’s political organization, Organizing for America.
