No Trash/Recycling Collection on Thanksgiving Day; Landfill Closed

Baltimore County residents whose trash or yard materials would normally have been collected on Thursday, November 26, should set it out on Thursday night for collection on Friday, November 27. Residents whose recyclable bottles and cans or mixed paper would normally have been collected on Thursday, November 26, are asked to hold these recyclables until the next scheduled day for those types of materials (Thursday, December 10).

Collections

Collections of all types may occur later than usual during the week following Thanksgiving. If a collection does not occur on the scheduled day during this period of time, the materials should be left out until collection occurs.

Trash and recycling drop-off facilities, including the Eastern Sanitary Landfill, as well as County offices, will be closed on Thursday, November 26. The landfill will be open with normal hours Friday, November 27, and Saturday, November 28 (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.).
Collection Schedule

Residents can now go online and view, save, and/or print their trash and recycling collection schedule and program guide, as well as obtain directions to the nearest residents’ trash/recycling drop-off center by visiting the Bureau of Solid Waste Management web site at www.baltimorecountymd.gov/go/collectionconnection. Residents who would like a collection schedule and program guide sent to them can call 410-887-2000.

Dixon verdict before Thanksgiving?

In Monday’s News Wave, we had a reader mention that at the rate the jury deliberations were going in the Sheila Dixon trial, that the jury would be ruining some Thanksgiving plans. We asked what might happen with that in our morning news roundup today and in our Tuesday News Wave.

Later in the day we were looking at reports from Baltimore Sun reporters tweeting about the trial and noticed that Annie Linskey (@annie_linskey) was wondering about the possibility of no verdict today. So, we asked her about what the judge might about sending jurors home for Thanksgiving.

Linskey’s reply:

… no idea what judge will do. Baltimore circuit court is open Wednesday.

A few minutes later, Linskey replied again:

… conventional wisdom is judge will want verdict before thanksgiving.

Thanks to Annie Linskey of the Sun for helping shed some light on this question for us.
