DETAILS: The City of Baltimore will honor one of its favorite citizens when the City renames Hilton Street for Baltimore and Washington Bullets basketball legend Wes Unseld. A Hall of Fame player and one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players of All-Time, Wes Unseld began his professional basketball career with the Baltimore Bullets in 1968 and played for the franchise his entire 13 year career.

He was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988, after amassing over 10,000 points and 10,000 rebounds during his legendary career. Unseld was one of only two men to be named Most Valuable Player AND Rookie of the Year in the same year (Wilt Chamberlain was the other.).

Since arriving in Baltimore in 1968, Unseld and his wife Connie have called Baltimore home. In 1979, they opened The Unselds’ School, a private school located in Baltimore that has become a well respected and highly praised academic institution.
