Changes at WMAR
DCRTV gets confirmation from WMAR News Director Kelly Groft about changes we earlier tipped you about. Jamie Costello is moving from mornings to nights at Baltimore’s Channel 2. He’s been on Sunday nights for a while but will move to the Sunday through Thursday spot in the coming weeks and will co-anchor the 11 PM news with Kelly Swoope. Also, as we told you, Charley Crowson has joined WMAR from a Little Rock TVer. He started Monday and will soon be joining the “Good Morning Maryland” team. He’ll report with 2′s “GMM” team next week and then hit the anchor desk with Megan Pringle on November 19th…..

I am really unhappy that jamie is moving times. Megan, Jamie and Justin are the perfect trio to do the news in the morning. If wmar is forcing this, it is a horrible mistake. However, with jamies love for his family, this may be his decision, so he can spend days with his family. Either way, it sucks!! But, I think Kelly should be replaced. I can’t stand to watch her because of the dry way she reads the prompter and her inability to put any emotion into the story.

Jamie Costello is the only reason I continue to watch WMAR TV at all. I would hope that this move was: 1) agreeable to him; 2) in his best interest (from him, not the station); 3) good for his family. WMAR doesn't seem to be able to leave well enough alone or keep the strongest personalities. Jamie, with his unique personality and ability to get along with everyone, will be sorely missed in the morning. I hope viewers will be able to continue seeing him at times other than just 11:00 pm.

Jamie Costello and Megan Pringles are the best, I would love to see Jamie in the morning again with Megan is a great way to wake up with two wonderful people like these two.

i'm not sure about the new guy. i can't remember his name. good morning maryland is the only local new i watch because i liked the team of jaime and megan. i'm not sure of this change? i have started to click in the morning. sorry!!!

what is the real reason for the switch? Is Meghan staying in Baltimore long term? is jamie happy with the switch. jury still put.

I miss Jamie in the morning,not happy. If Jamie is happy then I will adjust but that is why I got up earlier to watch the two of them

No, jamie is not happy…. he is just following orders. Came from above to switch him to evenings to help the ratings there. I actually e mailed the news manager and that is what she told me…… we need to get more people to complain to bring him back to mornings!

I, like others who’ve posted like Jamie but, I think it is a good move for the station.
Now that WMAR is High – Def and Jamie at 11, I’ll be much more inclined to watch.
Might even be where I start my 11 PM newscast, but it’s up to Chanel 2 to keep me there and not clicking the remote.

Agreeable to him? In HIS best interest? Good for HIS family? Time out, Bobbie. The last time I checked, Jamie worked for WMAR. WMAR doesn't work for Jamie. In this job market, and, more specifically, the cut-throat broadcast business in the Baltimore area, (not to mention the worst rated television station), I feel certain Jamie would be willing to work the graveyard shift cupping his ear doing hourly station ID's in a little booth near the control room if that's what it takes to hold onto his job, that thousands of others would gladly accept for half of what they're paying him. You would think that a guy with his talent, and the trust and respect he has earned among viewers over the years, would be worth more to the station than some out-of-town dude they've replaced him with on mornings. Stay tuned. The switch could be a blessing in disguise for Jamie, who will do well on any shift, despite the lack of talent around him.

I watch news at 5 am, I'm not up watching news at 11. I liked the morning team. Jaime, Meagan and Justin. There's no chemistry here now. The folks doing the videos (wrong all the time) are bad enough. Now they break up the team, too. They're lucky the other choice is Marty Bass on WJZ - can't go there!

Jamie Costello is the reason I watch your news show - otherwise it's boring. I actually watch your show up until 7am and change to NBC. Guess I'll watch NBC from 5am on since Jamie is not there.

Meagan cannot carry the show without Jamie. The new young man is attractive but knows nothing of Baltimore traditions and the other areas of the state. Everyone knows Jamie, The morning show is not the same and it was great seeing him help with the Turkey Bowl. I will not be tuning in anymore to the morning!
Put Jamie back on the morning! The station dealt him a very low blow and especially with his son's illness. PUT HIM BACK!

Well WMAR I thought someone couldn't get any more boring than Megan but I was proved wrong. This new guy is stiff as a board! The only reason I watch your newcast is Jamie Costello. When he wasn't on I tuned out. Too bad he can't be cloned so that he could do all the shifts! Will be finding something else to watch in the morning.

I disagree. WMAR needs to mix it up. I like the new stiff guy Charlie in the morning. At least it is a change. I think anchors in Baltimore rests on their laurels after 20+ years. Jamie is a prime example of this. You can make the same argument about WJZ. Jaime could also stand to lose a few pounds. I'm sorry, but it is a competitive market and looks are important unless you are on radio . No one is entitled to an anchor position. Neither Don, Marty nor Stan Stovall are overweight, Jaime needs to hit the gym. I watch WBAL most mornings. They have a fun and upbeat morning team with a chemistry that works. The 3 blondes don't hurt either (:

Leave it to WMAR to screw up a good thing. This new guy Crowson seems like a real stuffed shirt who acts as if he's the star of GMM. Jamie he ain't! GMM needs a person who knows the area not some honcho who acts like he's here to save the station. Great interview technique whoever hired him! Someone needs to take him to the block and get him "relaxed!"

Please bring back Jamie!!!! If not you have lost another viewer to your morning show. No offense to new guy, but Jamie he's not. Jamie's a Baltimore guy, whom related to viewers and is why people watch WMAR. Whoever decided moving Jamie to evening needs to be fired. What a bone head move!!

I enjoyed Jamie immensely in the morning. His personality complimented by Justin brought the energy to wake up Baltimoreans. I now find myself tuning in to catch a Justin forecast and then switching to competitors. I don't watch 6 and 11 pm so . . . .

We need Jamie back! I moved from DC to B-More, tried to watch the other morning shows, but got stock on Jamie and Megan. Loved the two of them together. Well, I'm back surffing for a new morning show!!!

If it was better for Jamie than leave him there, but sure do miss him on the morning news with Megan. They were great together and now can't watch the WMAR morning news anymore without Jamie……….Sorry but it was definitely a bad move for the public and that is the only news that I used to watch in the morning but no more……………..
