Anti-Gas Tax Rally at Noon Today in Annapolis

From an AFP-MD email:

How does $4.00 or even $5.00 a gallon gas sound? Does having less money in your pockets to pay the bills sound like a good idea? Will another job killing policy help give unemployed Marylanders find a job?

Tomorrow is the time to stand up and fight against the massive gas tax increases.

Tell Maryland politicians that you cannot afford more money out of your pocket by attending our Rally Press Conference this Wednesday March 9th on Lawyers Mall in Annapolis at noon.

This weekend Baltimore County AFP members were at gas stations waving signs and getting their fellow neighbors to sign AFP’s petition in opposition to the gas taxes.

Will you join fellow AFP members in encouraging fellow Marylanders to take action against this awful bill that will hurt struggling families and businesses?

Attend our rally and bring a homemade sign telling Annapolis politicians that Maryland cannot afford another tax!

After the rally we will go into the Budget and Taxation Committee to testify against these taxes!

Remember our Rally is this Wednesday March 9th on Lawyers Mall in Annapolis at noon. You can park at Navy Marine Corps Stadium and take the free shuttle down to Lawyers Mall.

Please join us at this important rally against a massive tax hike that no one can afford. We cannot win on this issue without your support and activism.

We look forward to seeing you at noon on Wednesday the 9th on Lawyers Mall in Annapolis.

Thank you for all your support.

Cross nails it on why Steele lost

Richard Cross

I had a lot of optimism when Steele became RNC chairman. Having observed him in close quarters in the State House as Lieutenant Governor, I thought he was gregarious, charismatic, and polished. He also delivered a consistently cogent message to audiences even more effectively than did Governor Ehrlich, for whom message discipline was a constant challenge. I thought these skills would serve Steele well while stumping for GOP candidates, appearing on the Sunday morning news shows, and performing the other routine activities one expects from a national party chairman.

But Steele became enamored of the celebrity of his new position shortly after winning it. This led him to grant a series of wide-ranging “Who is Michael Steele” interviews to the non-political press, sometimes producing the kinds of gaffes which came to define his RNC tenure.

Unless you’re a political junkie like me, you have no business knowing or caring who chairs either major party.

Cross is right on the money with what Steele did wrong.

Isaac Salazar’s new position and blog

We previously broke the story that Isaac Salazar was leaving the Maryland Democratic Party. We had someone forward us a copy of an email Salazar sent Friday which stated that he would be working in communications now for Hager Sharp. He is also starting a political blog at MDPoliticks. We understand that Salazar will not be doing political work in his new position for Hager Sharp.
