More cuts for Channel 2

DCRTV

At baltimoresun.com, David Zurawik tells us about the latest Baltimore TV cuts, this time at Channel 2/WMAR, where Mary Beth Marsden is now anchoring the 11 PM newscast alone, and station mangement says it has no plans to add a co-anchor. With the recent departure of Rob Carlin, the station no longer has a fulltime dedicated sports reporter, and is using freelancers for coverage. And, as DCRTV has already told you, don’t look for any late news at all on Saturday nights on Channel 2 this fall. With ABC football games running late, General Manager Bill Hooper says there is not enough of an audience available to justify the newscasts…..

Protesters at WMAR over ABC Obama special

DCRTV

Baltimore Sun TV critic David Zurawik tells us that there were protesters outside Baltimore ABC affiliate Channel 2/ WMAR on Wednesday, upset that the network was devoting its news day to President Obama and his health care plan…..

Local TV News changes

Changes at two stations were first reported yesterday at DCRTV (and we tweeted about them here.)

David Zurawik confirms both stories - Jennifer Gladstone is out at WBFF and WMAR has changed news directors yet again.

WMAR floundering continues

DCRTV reported last week that WMAR (Channel 2) is adding an extra hour of Good Morning Maryland (their pre-GMA show) after GMA goes off the air at 9. Now, the Sun reports the cellar-dwelling station is also dropping its noon newscast.
