WBAL Radio has learned that former State Senator Tommy Bromwell is in Massachusetts today and will report to federal prison tomorrow.

Bromwell was sentenced back in November to seven years in prison after admitting to racketeering, conspiracy and filing a false tax return.

Sources say the 59-year-old will be serving his sentence at The Federal Medical Center Devens.

According to the Department of Justice, Devens is located about 40 miles outside Boston. The facility houses minimum security prisoners and those with long term medical conditions. A source tells WBAL Radio that Bromwell has a heart condition and that is why he is serving his sentence at that facility.

Devens is located on the former military base of Fort Devens.

Bromwell’s wife Mary Pat is serving her one year sentence at a prison in West Virginia. She scheduled to be released next January but will likely get out early because of good time credit.
